About RateMyPublisher
RateMyPublisher collects anonymous, first-hand experiences of indie developers with Steam publishers: those who signed a deal and those who only pitched. The publisher list is updated daily from public Steam store data.
Rules
- Only write about your own first-hand experience.
- Stick to facts and your honest opinion. No insults, threats or unproven accusations.
- No names, emails or personal details of anyone, including yourself.
- Don't share confidential contract text. Ranges are fine.
- One review per publisher. No reviewing your own company or competitors.
- Every review is read by a human before it goes live. We may remove personal information.
Anonymity
- No accounts, no emails, no cookies.
- Your IP address is only stored as a one-way keyed hash for spam limits, and deleted after 30 days. It is never shown.
- Reviews show only the month and year they were published, and the year range you chose.
- Your manage link is stored only as a hash. We can't see it or recover it.
- Analytics are cookieless (Cloudflare Web Analytics) and never run on manage pages.
Privacy & data
- From Steam (public store data, no Steam user data): game names, release years, publisher names and links to game images on Steam's CDN. We never fetch or store anything about Steam users. The initial publisher list was bootstrapped from SteamSpy.
- From you: the review you write, a keyed hash of your IP address (deleted after 30 days) and a hash of your manage link.
- All data is stored with Cloudflare (D1 database) in the European Union (Cloudflare D1, Western Europe).
- RateMyPublisher is an independent site. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve or Steam. Steam data is shown "as is" and may be incomplete or out of date.
Revenue transparency
The site has no ads, no paid placements and no publisher accounts. Publishers can't pay to remove or change reviews. Running costs are paid by the site owner.
